New water infrastructure for irrigation apple trees in Germany

This project represents an advanced example of sustainable and smart agriculture, aimed at optimizing water usage and improving the quality of organic production.
Project: Expansion of the irrigation infrastructure
Location: Rostock - Germany
Items: VDA® Pipe System
Year: 2022 (first part) 2024 (second part – expansion)

Specifications:

196 hectares drip irrigation for apple trees regarding juice production.

Description of the Irrigation System

Water is pumped from 4 wells and 5 drainage systems into a water tank.
The underground pipe leads from the water tank to the fields.
The incoming pressure from the pumps in this system is approx. 6-7 bar, less for the drains.
At the outlets for the drip lines, they have about 2-3 bar.
Water is taken from underground water, i.e. from wells and drains.
The water temperature here varies between approx. 7-15°C depending on the time of year.

Technical Details of the Project
  • VDA® pipe system in PVC-A
  • PN 12,5 - Bar Length 6m
  • Ø 110 - 160 - 225
  • Total length 24.000 m
Advantages
  • Maximized flow rate: reduced pressure losses and optimized plant management costs thanks to the larger internal diameter with the same PN.
  • Quick and easy installation: Greater ease of handling and safety on site thanks to the reduced weight compared to other pipes of equal diameter and PN.
  • Reduced installation times and costs thanks to fast and reliable jointing technology (Forsheda gasket)
