Aliaxis supports the NGO Messengers of Peace International in the construction of a well in the community of Umuawa.
For Aliaxis, the protection and management of water resources are a fundamental priority: since 2021, Aliaxis Italia has launched a ‘give-back’ project to support local communities in accessing drinking water, improving health safety and quality of life, and providing the opportunity to build a better future for all the villages involved.
The project involves making annual investments, collaborating with qualified distributors, local authorities, and NGOs for water resource management, to provide a safe and constant water source to rural communities.
Nigeria holds the sixth position among OPEC group exporters. Throughout the region, there are numerous active sites for the industrial extraction of heavy minerals and hydrocarbons. Extraction methods, not aligned with standards for natural preservation and environmental protection, have caused constant deterioration of both shallow aquifers and surface waters such as streams and lakes.
Moreover, in the specific region of the Niger Delta, the main problem for the population is the current presence of numerous pathogens in the water. These bacteria are responsible for the spread of highly contagious diseases.
These high pathogen levels in surface water put people’s lives at risk, leading to high mortality rates, also due to the lack of minimal hospital medical facilities to provide care for people in this region. The presence or absence of water wells available to the population is a trigger for conflicts and tribal clashes; building water wells and providing for their purification is the engine of proper development and growth of the area’s civil society.
UMUAWA Community is in the country highland of Ubachima Village in Awoomamma town Oru Local Government Area in IMO State of Nigeria in W.Africa. and it is covered with abbondante of recent sand formation/sediment sandstone clays and clay mineral deposits.
We are proud to have supported the NGO Messengers of Peace International in the construction of the well for the Umuawa community; the work is progressing at a steady pace, and the drillers are working tirelessly to unlock a treasure of uncontaminated drinking water.

The start of the work was an extraordinary event for the people of Umuawa, as this pioneering endeavor marked the first of its kind in collaboration with the local government and the community.
